Last Monday, March 11th the heat was brought to Heritage Hall in Vancouver with our 6th Annual Curry Cup Competition. This year there were 10 competitors including three culinary student teams.

The winner of the 2019 Curry Cup Competition is Chef Tim Evans from The Cascade Room! His King Rama Thai Green Curry. Smoked wild boar shoulder, belly and jowl. Coconut rice, Miang of peanuts, crispy shallot, pork skin & pomelo won the judges over.

2nd Place was the student team from the Pacific Institute of Culinary Arts led by Chef & Coach Ben Kiely with their Japanese Curry with Prawns, egg parcel, and mussels

3rd Place was Vancouver Lawn Tennis & Badminton Club Chef Brian Fowke's Pemberton Meadow's Beef Short Rib Curry.

People's choice was a tie for the first time in Curry Cup history.

3rd place Chef Brian Fowke and Fable Diner's Chef Josef Driemal's Yellow Coconut Curry with lemon grass and chilis were crowd pleasers and took the title together.

As well,  like every year, a cheque was presented to Project CHEF Education Society to help them continue to bring food education to elementary schools in Vancouver.
