BC CULINARY APPRENTICE OF THE YEAR HISTORY

 This competition, previously called the "Karl Schier Competition" started in 1982. Originally organized by the BC Chefs Association, this competition ran from 1982 to 2009 to help promote competition amongst apprentices and create a community of young like-minded chefs. Many of the past winners have gone onto incredible culinary careers.

In 2019, Chefs' Table Society of BC, Competition Chair, Poyan Danesh brought back this important provincial competition to elevate the apprentices’ skills and offer the opportunity to connect with the community they plan to make a career in.
