  1. Project CHEF
    • Board members (12 present to vote) voted unanimously in favor of donating $5000.00 to Project Chef to fund the pilot project of the program, only subject to Scott and Tony reviewing the business plan to be provided by Barbara Finley.
  2. Financial Report
    • Robert Clark, Rob Feenie and Thomas Haas gave a recap of the fundraising event planning meeting held in December 2006.  Fundraising suggestions included a black box competition, chocolate competition, children’s events, celebrity chef gala dinner and a golf tournament.
    • Robert, Rob and Thomas will meet again with Julian and Dino to come up with a proposal for the May 28th board meeting.  The group will choose one fundraising event that could take place in the fall of this year.  A budget would be set for the event in order to raise more funds for the CTS.
    • Tiffany gave Neil new membership dues to deposit.
    • Neil will make arrangements to go to the bank with Jack to change cheque signing authorization.
    • Karri needs to submit an invoice for printing costs of spot prawn brochures.
  3. Spot Prawn Festival
    • Set Up: Members need to arrive by 11:30am to help set up, meet at Go Fish.  Vikram is picking up and setting up the audio.  Rentals will be delivered and picked up by A&B Party Rentals.  Ocean Wise has donated $400 to go towards the cost of rentals.
    • Volunteers: Scott is organizing volunteers to help set up, during event and clean up.  Tony will oversee volunteers during the event.  The North West Culinary Academy will provide lunch for the volunteers, thanks Tony!    Scott and Tony will organize the draw for the volunteers; they are entered to win a chance to go out on the fishing boat for a day.  Chefs and students can purchase day trips on the fishing boats for $40 (includes lunch and donation to CTS).  The boats go out about 7:30am and return around 4:30pm (boat will be in around 2:30pm on Saturdays).
    • Parking: Robert Clark will speak to Julian about setting up someone to oversee parking until Julian arrives to the event.
    • Signage: Don has ordered the signs and will organize pick up, delivery and set up of signs.  Stan Riha will give Don an invoice for cost of signage.
    • Cooking demos: Demo chefs are responsible for providing 60 samples of demo recipe to the public.  Chefs must bring all their own equipment.  Granville Island is donating $100 in fresh ingredients for the demos.  6 pounds of spot prawns will be available to demo chefs (at cost) on Friday, May 4th; chefs need to contact Steve directly to get their prawns.  Tiffany will send Steve the names of all the demo chefs.  Volunteers will help the chef’s plate samples.  Tiffany has plates, napkins and wooden forks (donated by Green Table).
    • Emcee: Jamie Maw
    • Water: Mary will purchase bottled water and set up to sell the water for $1.00 per bottle.  Mary will also bring the CTS banner.
    • Photos: The photo of chefs on the dock will be taken at 2:30pm.  All chefs are to show up in black pants and white chef jackets for a group photo on the dock.  Scott has hats will logos for the chefs to wear in photo.
    • Insurance: Vikram has secured liability for the CTS with GNK insurance.  The CTS is covered for 3 million.
    • Children’s table: Karri will bring crayons and colouring sheets.  Tiffany will contact Ocean Wise to see if they can donate supplies for the children’s table.  Tiffany will rent a low table for the children to colour on.
    • Follow up: board members to make notes after the spot prawn festival to keep a record for future events.
  4. Other Business
    • Board members are required to post on the Chefs Table Society forum on a monthly basis.  Members please check out the website on a regular basis and use the forum to network and share information pertaining to the CTS.
    • Robert Clark has been in contact with a fisherman that could provide fresh crab to members at the wharf in June, will discuss at next board meeting.
    • Granville Island Market will attend the next board meeting to give a proposal on how the market could do some cross promotion with the chef’s table society.
    • The spot prawn festival is being featured in The Province, The Sun, Urban Rush, City Cooks and Urban Diner.

  • Next Board meeting will be held Monday, May 28, 2007 2pm, Vij’s Restaurant.  
  • Board meetings will be held the last Monday of every month.  Meetings will not be held in July, August or December.
