Present Board Members: Vikram, Jack, Sid, John, Julian and Mary
Absent: Robert C., Thomas, Patrick, Jamie Maw, Sinclair and Robert F.
- Networking – Website
- Formed a sub committee consisting of Sid, Vikram, Jamie and Julian with Julian as chair of the committee.
- Jaime Maw recommended the board meet with Terra Bell from the Vancouver Magazine regarding web design. Website could be up and running by January 15, 2006.
- Jamie is to arrange for the sub committee to meet with Terra before October 31st.
- Vikram will arrange for the sub committee to meet with Jeremy for a presentation on web design as well.
- John asked if we would consider using sponsors for the website, links would be a possibility. John also suggested the board check out the CRFA website.
- Will need someone to maintain the website.
- The mission statement be posted on the website once it is up and running.
- Membership
- Need to update the membership list..
- Need to update the membership list.Vikram will pass new members contact information on to Shannon.
- Will accept membership dues once the website is launched.
- Jack recommends we contact media to get the word out about the website.
- Sid suggested a spring fundraising/membership drive; possibly tie it in with the Vancouver Magazine Restaurant Awards or Wine Festival.
- Other Business.
- Board passed a motion to ask board members that miss 3 consecutive meetings in a row to step down so that the society can bring new members on the board. In order for the society to move ahead the board members must be committed to attend the meetings.
- John mentioned that there should be some discussion about the Asian flu and what impact it could have on our local market.
- The Vancouver Cooks book has been nominated for the Cuisine Canada Cookbook awards. Congratulations to all the participating chefs. Award ceremony will take place in Montreal on November 3, 2005. Vikram will contact Barbara Jo McIntosh to see if she will be attending the awards. Sid will contact Douglas and McIntyre to see if there is any promotional funding available to send someone to Montreal to represent the society.
- Chef Rob Feenie and Chef Charlie Trotter are giving away 6 seats to a group of up-and-coming young chefs for a dinner at Lumière on November 18th. They will donate the cost of those dinners to the Chefs Table Society Scholarship and Bursary Fund. Young chefs need to be nominated by their executive chefs and names forwarded to Lumière. Names will be drawn by lottery. Overnight accommodation will be provided for any chef who is from out of town.
- Financial Statement
- As of July 15 2005 the society has $30,010.50 plus a $60.00 cash balance. Douglas & McIntyre have a hold back of $5000.
- Jack recommends that the board consider any expenses to go out before the fiscal year end.
- Sid will look into the date of year end, should be 15 months from date of incorporation, September 2004.
