Approval of board minutes from October 1st, 2007

  1. Project CHEF
    • Barbara Finley gave a report on funding to date and Pilot Program process to date.
    • Barbara is asking the CTS for on-going funding to help sustain the program, endorsement and to have chefs attend the pilot program at Queen Mary Elementary School on November 19-23rd.  Vikram, Tony and Scott offered to attend.   Any others wishing to attend can contact Barbara at Barbara Finley [pbfinley@telus.net]
  2. Financial Report
    • $31,000 in GIC
    • $3,000 in the bank
    • $2,300 from the spot prawn festival
    • Annual membership dues need to be collected $25.00 per person.
  3. Website
    • Andrew will make a presentation to the board next meeting to talk about linking the CTS website to Urban Dinner.
    • Board is going to try to generate traffic on the forum by posting write ups.  Members can post questions as well as give updates on their businesses, post upcoming events or sourcing of ingredients.
    • All members are encouraged to use the CTS forum more often; it is an excellent source to get information from chefs around the city.
  4. BC Foodservice Expo
    • Chefs Table has been offered a free space at the BC Foodservice Expo at BC Place January 27th & 28th
    • Organizer would like us to have an author’s corner table where some of our chefs (members or board) can promote, sell and sign their cookbooks
    • Timing is Sunday Jan 27th from 11am – 5pm, Monday January 28th from 10am – 5pm
    • Can also have a chef’s table society info station at table & sign up new members
    • Open to other options as well for what we would like to do with the space, can do a variety of things to fill up all of the time slots over the two days
    • The board is accepting the offer of the table for the show.
    • Tiffany is to contact Barbara Jo to see how many books the CTS has in storage, books will be used at the show.  BC Foodservice Expo
  5. Fundraising Events

    • 1st fundraising event will be held at Opus in 2nd week of January 2008.  Host chef Don will choose the date and theme of the fundraising dinner (Don is suggesting “fermentation”).  Don is asking for 5 chefs to volunteer to attend the fundraising dinner.  Opus will be providing the space and wine.
    • Pino is offering to host a dinner as well.
    • Sid is looking into the possibility of having a CTS dinner for 10 as an auction item at Gold Metal Plates with funds going to CTS.
    • Board is going to contact Kim Osborne to see if she could help with organizing a gala dinner for the society.  Kim has over 10 years of experience organizing Chefs for Life.

  • Next Board meeting will be held Monday, November 26, 2007 2pm, Nu Restaurant.  
  • Board meetings will be held the last Monday of every month.  Meetings will not be held in July, August or December.
