- Events
- Board concluded there is not enough time to plan for an event and Granville Island Market on October 27, 2007. Tony could provide man a table at the market on Saturday, October 27th with students from the NWCA to help promote local ingredients. John said he would be happy to stop by. Tony would need a vendor in the market to supply the ingredients.
- John suggested the membership offer recipes to the market to use for promoting local ingredients. The market could produce recipe cards and hand out through various vendors in the market.
- Granville Island will also host Winteruption in February 2008 (21-24th). The board is interested in holding an event at this time. Tiffany to contact Marcia to see if it would be possible to hold an event in the market at night?
- Scott is going to see if CTS could partner with BC GAS for use of their cooking stage at events. It usually costs $6000.00 to rent the stage for an event.

- Website
- The board agrees that the website forum is not working. Andrew said that interacting forums require more monitoring. The CTS is still not clear on what the website should do for the society.
- Chefs need to get something out of the website in order to buy into it and use it on a regular basis.
- Question, do we have enough members to sustain an active website?
- Andrew suggests the CTS link up with Urban Dinner. The board will discuss this at a future meeting.
- Fundraising
- Neil recommends that the board consider holding one large fundraising event per year rather than holding events throughout the year. One big event similar to “Hot Chefs Cool Jazz”. March or April would be a good time of year to hold an annual event.
- Another fundraising option is to hold smaller events every 2 months.
- Don has offered to hold a fundraising dinner at Opus. Chefs can host events in their restaurants and choose the style of the event such as a dinner or cooking class. Many foodies are looking for 1 night cooking classes.
- The board needs to set a target of how much money needs to be raised annually.
- Financial
- $31,000 in GIC
- $3,000 in the bank
- $2,300 from the spot prawn festival
Meeting adjourned at 3:07pm
- Next Board meeting will be held Monday, October 29, 2007 2pm, Vij’s Restaurant.
- Board meetings will be held the last Monday of every month. Meetings will not be held in July, August or December.
