January 10, 2023 (Vancouver) The Chefs' Table Society of BC is pleased to announce that we received funding from the Community Workforce Response Grant to support the training of 20 eligible individuals at the Pacific Institute of Culinary Arts for their 12 week Baking and Pastry Program starting this month.
These training spots will be offered to individuals who are facing pandemic career changes, new immigrants to Canada and people currently underemployed or in precarious employment. Apply here.

This is a unique opportunity to help 20 special people advance in their careers with our support. Chefs' Table Society is actively looking for people who are ready to build skills and begin working in a new career they will love.
Classes will run at the school at the entrance to Granville Island for 12 weeks starting January 23. Training for students who meet the criteria is free with support from the grant. Students will receive a knife kit and uniforms and, should they need to take the bus, there is an option to have support for bus passes. Students need an amazing attitude, a willingness to learn and access to a computer and internet for online learning and class prep (about 2.5 hours a day).
Interested candidates need to be at least 16, have a social insurance number and have written and spoken English levels high enough to go to school in English. They can be immigrants within 10 years of arriving in Canada. There is an extra enthusiasm to have women and people of colour included in the cohort.
CTS' support for successful students:
Chefs' Table Society will be an active participant in the training process by working alongside the school to offer industry orientation and offer job readiness training, interview skills and 'lunch-and-learns' to connect with industry leaders - all with a goal of preparing students for their future job placements.
