Over the past few months, the board of the Chefs’ Table Society has passed a number of changes governing Membership, Partnership, and Communication. Two of the results of these changes are the revised Chefs’ Table Society brand and the new website. Here’s an overview of what’s changed.
Chefs’ Table Society Coat of Arms
In the past year, the Chefs’ Table Society has grown and changed to suit the needs of our chef members. To coincide with this change, we felt it was important that our brand reflected the values of the Chefs’ Table Society and resonated with our chef members.
We have replaced the dinner fork and knife with a chef’s carving knife and fork, and replaced the plate with a shield representing British Columbia. We chose a coat of arms as our new identity in order to incorporate produce, livestock, and fish that are sustainable and local to BC. The intent is to have a logo that is inclusive of all of British Columbia. The new brand colours, blue and brown, represents land and sea or the coast and the interior. We hope we have created a brand that BC chefs will wear with pride.

Online Members’ Community
We wanted to have a place online to where Society members could network and support each other. The new online community aims to be that place.

Community Groups and Private Chefs’ Area
We have two key groups to help you communicate with a sub-set of our membership:
- The Walk-In – This group is open only to Chef Members. Help your industry peers and seek support when you need it. What happens in The Walk-In stays in The Walk-In.
- Help and Technical Support – Got a question about your membership? Want to volunteer but not sure where or how? Want to offer a perk or be a partner but have questions first? Struggling with filling out the scholarship application form? Noticed a bug or other technical issue? This group is where to go to look up these types of answers or ask new ones.
As our community develops, we will create more groups for the Society to use. If you have suggestions for new Groups, please share them in the Help Group or pass them directly to the Webmaster.
Scholarship Applications
All Society members are eligible to apply for scholarships and funding, and you can now submit these applications online. Take a look at our regular slate of financial awards and how you could partner with us to enhance our offerings.
Membership Card and Member Perks
Your Society board is working hard to build a collection of members-only perks. With our new membership card, you will be able to redeem discounts or exclusive offers through our perk partners. If you need to recall what those perks are while you’re out and about, pull out your smartphone and scan the QR code your membership card. It’ll link you to the perks directory on our website. Don’t miss out on redeeming these goodies.
Chefs’ Table Approved Partnerships
The Society board has committed to officially endorsing organizations whose values align with the Society and whose quality of product and service are a benefit to the BC culinary community at large. These Partners are marked as “Chefs’ Table Approved”. Existing Partners are reviewed for fit on an annual basis, and potential Partners are invited to apply online.
Society Store
Display your support for the Chefs’ Table Society by buying a T-shirt or getting an autographed copy of Vancouver Cooks 2. We’ll add more stuff over time (such as our Spot Prawn Festival swag). 100% of store proceeds go to the Chefs’ Table Society Legacy Library Fund.
Community Events Listings
For your convenience, we’re curating a calendar of Society and community events happening throughout British Columbia. Please contact us if you have an event we should know about. Events hosted by the Society or Chefs’ Table Approved Partners will provide you with full details in-site; community events submitted to the Society will take you to that event’s website for more details.
Membership Registrations and Renewals
Our original online system for registering and renewing members has also been overhauled. We acknowledge that our previous system was flawed and we sincerely apologize for any issues this may have caused.
The old technology has been scrapped and we are on a new membership system that processes all payments in-site and automatically emails you with confirmation of your registration or renewal.
